Description
The Rab Neutrino -12°C is a high-performance down sleeping bag designed to offer an excellent balance of warmth, weight, and compressibility for mountain activities where every gram counts.
Featuring 800FP European goose down, L.O.F.T 3D™ construction, and strategically placed Pertex® Quantum fabrics, it is an ideal choice for alpine trekking, technical bivouacs, and ascents in cold conditions, where serious insulation is needed without adding excessive bulk to your pack.
Real Technical Performance
Within the Neutrino family, this unisex model is designed for cold 3-4 season outings and winter mountaineering, where the balance between thermal protection and lightness is crucial.
The L.O.F.T 3D™ construction helps reduce down migration and improves thermal efficiency, while the combination of 20D Pertex® Quantum in the base and footbox and 10D Pertex® Quantum in the upper allows for reinforced durability in more exposed areas without sacrificing overall compressibility and lightness.
The specific patterning and mummy shape help optimize heat retention, while the thermal collar, anatomical hood, and zipper baffle limit temperature loss on truly cold nights.

Comparison within the Range
The Neutrino 0°C is oriented towards milder outings and summer alpine use. The Neutrino -6°C extends versatility for cold spring, high altitude, and alpine trekking. This Neutrino -12°C clearly raises the thermal level and is positioned for cold conditions, serious bivouacs, and light winter mountaineering, while maintaining a still reasonable weight and volume.
Compared to the Mythic range, the Neutrino prioritizes a somewhat more robust and versatile offering. Compared to the Alpine or Ascent ranges, it offers a more technical construction, better warmth-to-weight ratio, and a more distinctly alpine focus.
Recommended Use
- Mountaineering and winter mountain climbing
- Alpine trekking in cold conditions
- 3-4 season technical bivouacs
- Ascents where weight and volume are important
Is it for you?
Yes, if you are looking for a technical down sleeping bag with an excellent balance of warmth, weight, and compressibility.
Yes, if you do cold-weather mountain climbing, alpine bivouacs, or demanding trekking and need a more serious model than a mid-season sleeping bag.
No, if your main use will be summer or hut-to-hut trips. In that case, warmer Neutrino models or ranges more oriented towards general trekking would be a better fit.
