Our goal was to create an alpine down jacket with the best warmth-to-weight ratio in our history. We set to work combining our advanced TILT heat retention technology with the lightest and strongest fabrics we could find, and the unparalleled warmth-to-weight of goose down. We also used a combination of baffles to maximize performance. Lightweight stitch-through baffles on the arms and hood provide better mobility, and box baffles around the core encourage the down to fully loft, maximizing heat capture. The baffles are offset, which distributes the down evenly around the core and reduces the possibility of cold spots.
After extensive research and development, we found that placing the TILT layer as close to the body as possible maximized heat retention. This heat-reflecting layer gives the Mythic Ultra jacket a noticeable increase in thermal efficiency, providing pleasant warmth in icy meetings and freezing summits. To keep weight to a minimum, we used an ultralight 10D exterior that is 100% recycled. This Pertex® Quantum fabric with built-in ripstop is strong, durable, weatherproof, and soft to the touch.
Designed for alpinists and mountaineers, it features a helmet-compatible hood, two-way front zipper for use with a harness, and fine articulation through the sleeves for climbing. All zippers, adjusters, and the stuff sack have been designed to be lightweight and low-bulk.
