California Proposition 65 Legislation
California Proposition 65 (commonly known as Prop 65) is a law unique to the state of California in the U.S. Prop 65 prohibits any person in the course of doing business in California or selling a product to a consumer in California from knowingly and intentionally exposing any individual to a chemical, or to the risk of a chemical determined by the state of California to cause cancer and/or reproductive toxicity, even in minimal amounts.
This time we opted to go a little further south but still on the coast, to the Lofoten Islands. Lofoten is another area of stunning beauty and home to some incredible mountains with a lot of potential for winter climbing. We had no real plans or goals, we just wanted to climb a lot and have a good, safe trip. On the first day, we drove around looking for ideas to gather possible routes and spoke to some of the incredibly friendly locals for updates on current conditions. This gave us a good idea of the area and we quickly got stuck into the action in the following days.
There was no relaxation in the climbing, and on the first day, we managed to open a rather impressive route that hosted intricate and very difficult climbing. We weren't particularly looking for something difficult, but we also don't like to shy away from a challenge. We called the route 'Terrible Two', as that day was my nephews' second birthday and the second pitch was the one that put up the fight.
